Dr. Stephen Chrisomalis is a linguistic anthropologist who specializes in the anthropology of mathematics and the interaction of language, cognition, and culture. He has written extensively on the history of mathematical and notational systems around the world, and considers the way that numbers are used to represent and manipulate different aspects of the world we live in. He received his PhD at McGill University.  At Wayne State Dr. Chrisomalis teaches courses such as Language, Culture & Cognition, History of Anthropology, and Language & Societies.

Sciences & Humanities Under the Dome is a free public lecture series supported by the Rita & Stanley Levy & Ratna & Vaman Naik Endowment. We welcome all members of the community to join us in the planetarium for these research lectures!
