Return to Event

Event Dates:  April 7 and April 14 2017.

*Two, 4-hour sessions.*

12:00pm - 4:30pm (Lunch at noon)

The WSUSOM Office of Learning and Teaching (OLT) invites pre-clinical faculty members, administrators, and professional staff to attend the first SOM Academic Boot Camp (ABC).  Academic Boot Camp is the first step in pre-clinical instructional development at WSUSOM.

In ABC you will discover how to help your students learn better, save time on all aspects of teaching (including grading), get better teaching evaluations, and have more fun in the process. It is an intensive faculty seminar/workshop on principles and practices for designing and conducting effective medical school courses.  Topics and activities include the design of learning objectives, assignments, rubrics, tests, and grading schemes; student learning and diversity; designing a variety of learning experiences; identifying and remediating struggling medical learners, and continuing instructional improvement strategies through documented scholarly teaching and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

Attendance at all three sessions and a completed course portfolio are required for certification. Registration is required.  Up to 35 participants will be accepted.
