Fostering Deep Self-Awareness: Exploring our Biases in Healthcare

Return to Event

Join the Wayne State School of Social Work as we welcome Dr. Alex Boesch from the WSU Office of Inclusive Excellence to lead students in 'Fostering Deep Self-Awareness: Exploring Our Biases in Healthcare'.

Implicit biases affect our unconscious thinking and decision-making, and it's an individual's responsibility to unearth and mitigate biases before they affect others. This interactive, two-hour workshop, designed for social work students provides an opportunity for deep self-exploration as well as tools to mitigate biases. Specific research on implicit bias in healthcare will be discussed and applied to our work.

This exclusively in-person training will cover all the necessary content to meet the Michigan Limited Licensing Implicit Bias training requirements (LLBSW or LLMSW). Thus, exclusively BSW and MSW upcoming graduates are recommended to attend. Continuing Education (CE) credits will not be available, as this is a student training session.

'Fostering Deep Self-Awareness: Exploring Our Biases in Healthcare' - Friday, April 18th, 1-3pm.

Exclusively in-person at the Wayne State School of Social Work, basement classrooms 0023 and 0005. Student spots are extremely limited, so RSVP ASAP.

The School of Social Work is located at 5447 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48202. Please direct all event questions to advisor Andre Iadipaolo at eu6337@wayne.edu
