The Wayne State University School of Medicine Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) welcomes all members of our community to join us for a special interactive panel discussion: 

This event will highlight the diverse resources and programs available to foster leadership development. We anticipate a dynamic panel discussion followed by an audience Q&A session.Our panelists will share their experiences with leadership training, discuss the impact of these opportunities on their career, and provide advice for those seeking to grow in their leadership journeys.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the various leadership training opportunities available in medicine and science and evaluate their relevance to professional growth.
  • Analyze the impact of leadership development programs on career advancement, decision-making, and professional effectiveness in academic medicine.
  • Apply insights from panelists’ leadership experiences to enhance personal leadership skills and foster career progression in academic and clinical settings.
  • Engage in reflective discussion to identify individual leadership goals and develop strategies for leveraging mentorship and networking in career development.

Teena Chopra, M.D., M.P.H., Assistant Dean of Faculty Development and Coaching, Clinical Professor and Director of Epidemiology and Antibiotic Stewardship.  Speaking on ELAM & AAMC Mid-Career Program.

Radhika Gogoi, M.D., Ph.D., Chair of Women in Science and Medicine and Associate Professor in the department of Oncology.  Speaking on the AAMC LEAD Program.

Anne Messman, M.D., Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education.  Speaking on AAMC's GME Leadership Development Program. 

Lea Monday, M.D., Assistant Professor in the department of Internal Medicine. Speaking on WE AIM and the AAMC Early Career Program. 

Dena Nazer, M.D., Professor of Pediatrics and Course Director for WE AIM. Speaking on WE AIM and WSU Academic Leadership Academy. 

Claire Pearson, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.E.P., Professor in the department of Emergency Medicine.  Speaking on AMWA Elevate Leadership Program.
