Survival of the City: Living and Thriving in an Age of Pandemic

Professor David Cutler of Harvard University will present at this year's economics lecture. This event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP to Katie Francek at katie.francek@wayne.edu.

Abstract

Cities are among mankind’s greatest innovations and yet they are fragile. Pandemics cause people to flee cities and poor governance leads to out-migration. This talk builds on a recent book by Cutler and Ed Glaeser, “Survival of the City,” analyzing the precarious nature of urban life and solutions to longstanding urban problems.
