In commemorating 150 years of academic and research excellence in Detroit, President Wilson announced the launching of a university-wide initiative as a testament to our unwavering sense of social responsibility and commitment to the community during this year of sesquicentennial celebration. This initiative is designed to engage and activate all of WSU's stakeholder groups, including students, faculty, and staff, in meaningful community service across the metro Detroit area. The goal – 150,000 volunteer community service hours in 2018.
On Saturday, April 7, 2018, Wayne State University will participate in the Warrior 150 Day of Service at Durfee Community Center. FREE SHUTTLES provided from campus to the worksite. Shuttles will leave from Anthony Wayne Drive, in front of Dunkin Donuts, beginning at 8 a.m. and will run continuously through the end of the event. Free parking is also available on site at Durfee Community Center.
FREE LUNCH and t-shirt provided to participants.
Warrior 150 Day of Service will include:
- Painting residential addresses on the curbs of properties throughout the surrounding neighborhood
- Surveying lots to determine board ups, blight removal and tree/perennial plantings
